Mayor Bloomberg is Restricting Yet Another Thing

Mayor Bloomberg announced that pain killers like Vicodin and Percocet will only be administered in NYC public hospitals for no longer than three days. If you you loose or have your medicine stolen you will not be able to refill the prescription. This is Bloomberg’s way of fighting the abuse of prescription painkillers in NYC and I’m sure it will spread nationwide as well. We should allow the professionals to decide how many days a patient needs to be on painkillers and not the government!

“Here is my problem with legislative medicine,” said Dr. Alex Rosenau, president-elect of the American College of Emergency Physicians and senior vice chairman of emergency medicine at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Eastern Pennsylvania. “It prevents me from being a professional and using my judgment.”

Some people might fake an injury or pain but there are many people that go to the emergency rooms in hospitals with legitimate injuries and they might need to be on painkillers for more than three days.

I’m not so sure it will spread to the rest of the country, unless it is through ObamaCare somehow. The bans on restaurant salt shakers and Big Gulps haven’t spread, as far as I’ve heard.

Dama, what do NYC folks think of this compulsive nursemaid disorder that Bloomberg has contracted? I’m not just asking about conservatives like you, but liberal New Yorkers. Do NYC residents really want their Mayor to be there to wipe the baby food off their chins and put their pacifiers back into their mouths every time they fall out??

Is Bloomberg term limited? If so, when will that limit expire?

I’m not sure how many non-conservatives agree or like Bloomberg’s policies but I will look into that. All I know is that many doctors don’t agree with the policies regardless of their political affiliations. This is Bloomberg’s last year as Mayor of NYC. The runner-ups don’t look very promising…
