Guns and Children or Children and Guns?

7a3u2uzu-465x620

This is the second news article I have read about a father being investigated and/or punished for posting a picture on Facebook of their son with a gun. (I better take down the pictures of my two boys holding my rifle and shotgun.)

I am a HUGE proponent of teaching people, and this includes children and women, how to handle a gun. My two sons know how to shoot but most importantly they know how to handle a gun. I have taught them the basic rules of guns and shooting. They know my guns are not toys and guess what they have never asked to hold or shoot the guns without supervision or without me announcing “I’m going shooting.”

I believe we all have the right to own a weapon if we so choose and that right should not be taken away from us. But when people start acting stupid and calling child services only because a child is holding a gun then we have major issues. This goes beyond gun control and more psychiatric/mental issues. How can a father/mother not teach their own son/daughter how to handle a gun?

Instead of there being more announcements about how bad guns are and how they kill people, why not teach people about guns and history. We would save so much money and energy that can be spent on other issues such as the economy.

Insanity reigns. They dictate what size soda you can drink, whether you can display tobacco products, and whether you can teach your kids proper gun usage. No thinking required. Keep blogging. Keep blogging.
